How does the chart of accounts work in Bokio?
Different types of bookkeeping accounts are used to register business transactions in your bookkeeping. All the accounts used by the company are collectively known as the chart of accounts. In Bokio, we use a predefined chart of accounts. Since we want to automate bookkeeping as much as possible, you cannot change the name or add new accounts.
If you enter bookkeeping records manually, you can search by name and account number to see the accounts that can be used. The entire chart of accounts can also be found in Settings → Chart of accounts. When you use our smart bookkeeping solution, you don’t need to think about the type of account to use. However, you will always be able to see a preview of the journal entry and thus also the accounts.
Can I change the chart of accounts?
No, you cannot change the chart of accounts or add your own accounts (or rename them). This is because we want to help companies as much as possible in their bookkeeping. If everyone has the same chart of accounts, it makes automated bookkeeping much easier, supported by computerisation.
